The Department of Library and Information Science (DLIS), University of Nairobi, was established for the sole purpose of providing quality research, education, training and consultancy programmes in library and information science. Although the university has been offering education and training programmes in Diploma of Information Studies through the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) for the last 20 years, the Department came into existence in October 2013.
